    Reflexology (feet)

Reflexology treatments are a blissfully enjoyable experience which bring a deep sense of relaxation, may aid sleep, promote a sense of well-being, and improve mood.  Reflexology can be enjoyed as a one-off treatment, or as a course of treatments. There is evidence to suggest that a version of Reflexology was practised within ancient cultures in Egypt and China. Modern day Western reflexology however is based on zone theory, which follows the work of Dr William Fitzgerald in the early 20th Century when he identified the link between the application of pressure to certain areas of the body, and anaesthetising effects felt elsewhere.  This work was furthered by his successors, whose research led them to map a series of reflex points on the feet and hands, and note associated signs of healing within the body, thus creating modern reflexology as it is practised today.

What to expect from a Reflexology treatment

My standard reflexology treatments are 60 minutes in length, unless arranged by prior agreement, and under Covid-19 conditions will be carried out following strict protocols. This means that we will be both wearing masks (unless you are exempt), and I will also wear a visor and apron for additional protection. You will currently be treated on your own furniture, either a sofa or comfortable chair where you can put your feet up, or a bed will also work well.

Before we commence your first treatment I will carry out a short medical history with you, to ensure that the treatment is tailored to your circumstances. After this you will then be invited to fully relax, with your feet raised, for the remainder of the treatment.  It is a very relaxing experience, and many people fall asleep during reflexology.

After the treatment we will discuss any reflexes that felt out of balance or displayed sensitivity, answering any questions you may have, before leaving you to enjoy your relaxation!

    Health Insurance

Many health insurance policies include reflexology treatments, so check your policy and I can provide a receipt if required.

    Reflexology in pregnancy

I have undertaken further qualifications in maternity reflexology for pre and post natal mothers.  Pregnancy is a time when your body is going through a tremendous amount of change, and so also a time when it is particularly beneficial to take time to yourself, to focus on relaxation and well-being, to support both yourself and your growing baby.

    Facial Reflexology

The ultimate in relaxation! Facial reflexology is a gentle, enjoyable treatment, slowly massaging reflex points which have been mapped to the face rather than the feet.  I offer facial reflexology for a 45 minute treatment, or as part of a 75 minute treatment in which I combine facial reflexology with elements of an Indian Head Massage to help address areas of tension in the head and neck, for optimal relaxation.

Extra Gentle Soothing Reflexology (incorporating the Langstone-Wring method)

If you are suffering from a chronic or terminal condition, receiving chemotherapy, or perhaps going through a period of extreme stress/anxiety, I would recommend this particularly gentle treatment. Confirmation may be required that your doctor is happy for you to receive reflexology, and a shorter treatment may be most appropriate.

    Long Covid

I have carried out detailed research on this topic, gathering information from 527 people regarding their experiences, which I will use to help tailor reflexology treatments. Please contact me before booking if you suspect that you are affected by Long Covid, and we can arrange a shorter first session to reduce the risk of a healing reaction.

    Trauma

I have worked with an expert in the field of trauma, who is a survivor herself, to learn how to best offer treatments in a trauma-sensitive manner. If you are a survivor, please feel free to message me with any questions, and /or to let me know in advance, so that I can tailor your treatment accordingly.

    Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD)

I have undertaken specialist training in this award-winning technique, developed to target the lymphatic reflexes.

    Indian Head Massage

Focusing on the areas of the body in which tension is most commonly held, this treatment includes massage of the upper back, shoulders, neck and head.  You remain fully clothed throughout, and no oil is used, so there is no need to wash your hair straight away afterwards! Pressure can be applied to suit your preferences, and particular attention paid to known areas of tension.

    Reflexology for Mamas

I understand that becoming a mum is both extremely rewarding, and also very challenging. With so little time to yourself it is often impossible to think about your own well-being, even though you really deserve it!  So, why don't you invite me to join you and your NCT friends at a small gathering*. Each of you can benefit from a relaxing 30 minute treatment whilst your friends are on hand to help with the little one. Perfect!

*Currently available outdoors only, in small groups to comply with Covid regulations.

    Reflexology at Work

With many employers now recognising the importance of their employees' well-being, Reflexology and Indian Head Massages are ideal options for the workplace. Health insurance policies may also cover Reflexology treatments.  With no need to undress, yet offering a truly relaxing experience and a break from the desk, a focus on well-being can bring many benefits to both employees and employers.  Treatments can be gifted to employees or offered to employees directly at a preferential corporate rate.

All treatments are offered as a complementary therapy and do not cure diseases or conditions. If you are experiencing concerning symptoms you should always contact your doctor.
