The benefits of touch, relaxation and companionship are well recognised for everyone, but can be particularly significant for elderly people in care homes who struggle with mobility, or have other age-related challenges which make other wellbeing treatments and socialising more difficult.
As a gentle treatment, which can be applied to feet and hands, Reflexology is a wonderful treatment for people who may find other forms of massage to be too invasive or vigorous, or for whom mobility is a problem. People can be treated in reclining armchairs or their beds, where foot boards can be removed (for feet reflexology), or even just a normal chair for hand reflexology, and enjoy a relaxing, soothing treatment.
As a mobile reflexologist I will agree a date to visit the home (with the agreement of the care home manager), taking bookings in advance from residents for the available appointments that day.
When making bookings all potential clients will be screened for any contraindications, via the booking questionnaire, to ensure that reflexology is right for them. Where applicable the GP's permission may be necessary.
I am fully qualified and insured, DBS checked, a member of the Association of Reflexologists, and have previous experience treating elderly clients, as well as volunteering in a personal capacity with Age UK.
Bookings can be made for SE1, SW1, SW3, SW7, SW10, W1A, W1J and W1K via the Central London booking schedule, which can be accessed via the main schedule:
